Promotion Trials: The Great Marmot Punt, Saturday November 30

Drogar's picture

It's time for the time honored tradition of making certain meddlers do stupid stuff to get a shiny new title and tons of new responsibilities, so that Nich and I don't have to work so much.

Chance Encounter

“Hullo, Miz F’Sharri,” the Argent flight handler smiled, taking the reins of Aerie’s grand gryphon. “Haven’t seen you in a while.”

Aerie stretched, working out the kinks from the long flight. “It’s that time of year again,” she said. The sun was shining, but there was a chill in the air and clouds piled on the horizon, bringing with them the scent of an incoming autumn rain.

Resupplying a Siege, Part One

Nirahsa's picture

((I'd been wanting to do another Naval based bit for awhile since the Siege started.))

The boat rocked as it crested waves as if the destroyer was trying to leap out of the water only to slam back against the ocean once gravity asserted its claim on the vessel. The ocean itself was relatively calm as the sun beared down on the crew of the vessel, men and women, humans, dwarves and the odd draenei that was constantly trying to remain on her hooves.

This was the one thing Nira didn’t like about boats so far was the constant motion that made her have to keep shifting about to stay standing. She’d already fallen a few times this trip which had gotten a laugh from several of the crew about the landlubber completely lacking sea legs. Which earned a blush from the draenei as she redoubled her efforts to stay standing.

For Lu Zeitan, Hallow's End was already an interesting night, and he'd only just fallen asleep.

Harmonic Discord

Nirahsa's picture

Nirahsa sat near the water’s edge outside the walls of Stormwind and near a waterfall that cascading into Elwynn forest. She probably could have done this inside the city but she needed the privacy, the lack of interruptions. A light breeze rustled through the trees only to be drowned out when it swirled off towards the roaring water. The darkness of the evening was broken by a small crackling fire the Shaman had set up to her right. Oddly near the banks of the small lake nearby with her facing both.

She took a deep breath before starting to focus, meditating like she’d been taught as she called out silently to the world around her. Asking to be listened to, asking for counsel as she tilted her head down eyes closing briefly.

Desperado

Lu Zeitan's picture

"Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?"-Don Henley, "Desperado"

People close to Lu were familiar with his past. They knew, inside, he was conflicted, always at battle with some darker thing lurking inside. It was a blackened heirloom, a lineage of sin made whole in the warm, brilliant soul of the Pandaren. It was the one blemish on the otherwise spotless radiance that was the caring heart of Lu Zeitan. It sat there, steaming and fuming, bubbling like the Sha, angrily lashing at that which carried it. Any day, he could have eradicated what he felt as guilt. He could have obliterated that mark of sin and shame that followed him around like a specter, long fingers clawed and curled, waiting for a chance to strike and rip the wardancer to shreds. He could have done away with it, and told himself it wasn't his fault his family was dead, that their line was one of vicious and callous acts, and that he needn't worry of following the same path, being a bastard of his mother and all.

He could have, but he didn't. Lu wasn't the kind to bury something, to leave it behind. Call it sentimentality, or call it stupidity; Either way, Lu carried that sin as a reminder of what he could, one day, become. It had taken all of one wrong step to start the dark path his ancestor had set out before his family line, and the rest had happily followed suit into the abyss. Lu was a clean slate, a fresh start for the name, and he would be damned if he let whatever generation was to follow become like him.

That, he realized, was why the nightmare came one Hallow's End night.
