[Anwyna] After Party

Henii's picture

Anwyna breathed a sigh of relief as the cool evening breeze caressed her booze-warmed cheeks. A smile turned her lips and she hummed a happy tune as she weaved her way through Stormwind’s streets. Aside from a lantern lit guard patrol very few people were around to bother her in her tipsy stupor.

As she stumbled her way passed the mouth of an ally she caught her shoe on the edge of a loose cobble stone. Her gasp of surprise was cut short as a rough leather glove sealed firmly over her mouth. Her eyes went wide, her foggy mind struggling to comprehend what was happening as she was yanked into the shadowed ally. Out of instinct Anwyna called upon the Light to protect her; but her spell was cut short as her breath was forced from her lungs.

Her body went rigid as her attackers blade bit deep into her back. Her vision spun as her blue dress darkened with her blood. From behind the man growled angrily into her pointed ear.

“This is for Theramore, elf-bitch.”

She collapsed to the hard cobblestones as he ripped the blade from her back. She lay there limply, desperately gasping for air, as the human walked around her. He eventually crouched down and pulled a grimy cloth from his pocket to wipe the crimson from his knife. His voice rumbled out from behind a bandanna covering his face.

“Been watchin’ you fer a long time now. Waitin’ fer a good time to stab ya in the back jus’ like yer kind does everyone else.”   Anwyna could almost feel the contemptuous sneer, “How’s it feel knowin’ yer gonna die alone, sufferin’, with no one to help you? I dunno about you but makes me feel pretty good.”

He laughed as he stood and slipped the knife into a hidden sheath. He turned and strode casually out of the ally, whistling a sailor’s tune as he pulled the mask from his face. It was the last thing Anwyna saw before her mind slipped into darkness.

Nore leaned back and sighed,

Nore leaned back and sighed, rubbing her eyes. “Seriously, we weren’t even back in town two hours...” So much for vacation.

The poor rookies who had found Anwyna had spent a couple hours repeatedly answering Nore’s questions. The gnome, Pogglepop, was solid; professional and to the point. Nore liked her. Thackery wasn’t any older, but way more nervous, as if he were to blame for such a terrible thing. he wasn’t, of course, but he was going to have to toughen up fast if he stayed with the city guard.

The healers’ careful words made Nore scowl. She simply would not accept their diagnosis of Anwyna’s injury. There was a way to fix this. There had to be.

And somewhere, not knowing it yet, was someone who was going to pay for harming her Dragoon.
