[Unknown] Zin-Azshari

Nirahsa's picture

((One off bit I felt like writing due to recent mullings. Not a Nirahsa piece. As the title suggests, takes place back during the First Legion Invasion of the Night Elves.))

“Azshara will save us, Azshara will protect us.” The young kaldorie woman whispered fervently as the fire rained down across Zin-Azshari. She sat huddled in the corner of her room listening to the growls and roars that reverberated through the wall followed by the sound of clanging steel. She could hear other elves charging against the monstrosities that had erupted from the Queen’s palace.

The wall came apart a reddish-orange creature came crashing through, knocked over by one of the soldiers. The beastly thing wasn’t dead, the fall only buying a moment’s reprieve before it rose again grabbing its massive mace and thundering after the soldier. Her kinsman’s battle cry was cut short as one swing of that weapon smashed the elf against a wall, leaving a smear of blood.

Drawing in a breath as she tried to control her breathing the elven woman rose, she knew she couldn’t stay here. Fortunately for her the felguard hadn’t noticed her as she left the crumbled remains of her room. She quickly took off at a run through the flaming streets of Zin-Azshari.

“What if Azshara was responsible for those creatures? They did come from the palace….no, no she would never do such a thing. They must have invaded the palace first! I…have to do something!” Her mind raced trying to think of how she could possibly help her beloved Queen. She became so distracted that she almost ran right into a column of demons as they moved outwards, only barely escaping their noticed as she jumped back out of sight breathing hard and fast.

After the column passed, the woman drew in another long breath gathering her resolve before she ducked out and dashed towards the palace the demons had come from. She wasn’t a fighter but maybe, maybe she could sneak in and get their beloved Queen out of the palace before even more of those creatures arrived!

It didn’t take her to long to reach the steps of the palace, amazed that she had managed to get this far, her suspicions of the monsters having a hold over the palace was confirmed as she spied four of those big red-orange armored monstrosities guarding the main door.

The elven woman bit her lower lip as she kept out of sight her gaze shifting to look around the palace trying to find another way to get inside. After a moment her eyes fell upon a balcony above all the nearby buildings. She let out a gasp  as she caught sight of Azshara on this balcony, even as a prisoner her beauty was awe-inspiring. Though she seemed to be unguarded, unshackled, maybe the guards holding her captive were just out of sight. Yes that had to be it.

Drawing in another breath the woman slowly climbed one of the buildings near the palace to try and get a better look, taking several minutes before she found a better vantage point her gaze glancing back to her captive queen on the balcony, forced to watch her beloved city burn, the sadness she must be feeling had to be…..

Her eyes widened in shock.

Azshara…she was…smiling…
