I think this is the best way to organize, and I figured with new players we should have a place to bounce around some ideas. So first up, I was considering playing a familiar role and picking cleric for healing, but glancing at the advanced players guide, I was inspired to make a gnome summoner. *flips a coin* -she'll- be chaotic good, I think. Where was the link to the online fill in character sheet again?

PDF fillable character

PDF fillable character sheets!

I have four concepts I'm working on for this campaign, one for each of the four "primary" roles, I'll choose one once the rest of you have your characters in place.

My concepts are:

A human barbarian, exiled from his tribe,

A dwarven rogue, with a silver tongue and a knack for mechanical things,

An elven wizard, seeking the truth of the nature of power, and

A half-orc cleric, intending to prove herself just as worthy as any pureblood human

After much consideration I believe I'll be rolling up an aasimar Paladin.

How would it end
If the truth was re-writable
Break with past
Whatever dreams you long for
I've seen what the future has in mind for me

Class preference

The idea I'm currently working on is starting Oracle, then multiclassing between Rogue and Oracle.  If this clashes with anyone else's plans, I do have other ideas I could use though, just let me know.

Glad you changed, because a a

Glad you changed, because a cleric is what I'm thinking of, though I need to do more research myself. A sort of healer who's struggling with his faith, and can be harsh.

...why do I always end up playing jerks/bad people? Maybe I'll be happy cheery person just for a switch....

EDIT: The healer part is still there, but I may scrap the rest. Open to suggestions.

I've told a few of you

I've told a few of you already, but just so everyone's clear:

Character creation rules are going to follow the same rules as in the Runelords campaign to keep things simple.  There are, however, a few exceptions:

1)  Alignments must be non-evil.  Since the setting is inspired by gothic horror, your alignment will likely be more than just a role-playing label, so choose your alignments wisely...

2) Two traits as usual, but one must be a campaign trait from the Carrion Crown Player's Guide.  If none of those traits are a good fit for whatever character concept you have, let me know and I'll work something out with you.  However, everyone needs to have a tie to the dearly departed doctor...

3) No Hero Points.  We are using the Harrow Point system.  Obviously, that means no anti-heroes either.

As usual, if you need help or advice, I am always happy to assist.  Let me know.

So Magus, Summoner, Cleric, Oracle, and paladin? Looks like we'll be needing the services of a certain dashing treasure hunter and diplomancer.

Oh man, I'm going to love

Oh man, I'm going to love this class, it's perfect for me. I really love that it doesn't require spell prep, and I get access to some interesting rp spells like ventriloquism :)

If my character ends up being the tallest person in the party at five-foot nothing, I'm gonna laugh so hard.

So I'm curious, Firie, what's the build plan for your oracle?

Oracle

Dodge and tumble, stealth and stabbing, with a healthy dose of misdirection and spell-augmented mobility and divine turmoil.  Possibly some petty theft.

Also, Con is my dump stat.

You may proceed

Absolutely.  Especially the talking-to-people skills, I won't be doing too much of those.  I will be trying to make the most of melee sneak attacks.

Rastila: I needed to get help

Rastila: I needed to get help from vent folks to fill out the bulk of my character sheet ( still gonna need it to figure out my eidolon), so if you're stuck feel free to ask. Some of the stuff can be filled in by Nich and Drogar too if you're unsure.

On that note: do I make a second sheet for my eidolon?

Finkswitch: got me the gnomes

Finkswitch: got me the gnomes of garalon on PDF, so I have a pretty good idea of how to rp my character, but given that you were thinking sibling backstory, I was wondering about our backstory. I feel like, given you are a magus and I a summoner, we might want to go with the teachers pet perk, in the sense that we met the professor during his lectures at some arcane university, and an academic setting is pretty normal for gnomes trying to get new experiences. Let me know what you think.

I'm perfectly happy with you taking the lead on stuff like a last name, what city our characters were summoned from, hometown, all that jazz. Also totally fine with our meeting being a chance reunion, too. Guess I just need some ideas thrown at me.

Since talking to you, I've

Since talking to you, I've been doing research on the Magus and Gnomes don't do well as Magi. I was thinking Tiefling or Elf. I suppose I could be a gnome Tiefling, though! Let me ponder on this...

EDIT: Nicholai! Would you allow a Tiefling from Gnome stock? The only change would be they would be small size rather than Medium, with the benefits and drawbacks of that size.

Awesome, Dar. Pure awesome. Assuming Nich allows the Med-Small substitution for being a "gnome", I'm on board.

EDIT: May be re-thinking class choice to fit with making a gnome. (Which may mean race too)

Fink - yes, you can go

Fink - yes, you can go Tiefling based on gnome.  Per rules listed in the Blood of Fiends book, you use all of the Tiefling statistics and just set their size to small, so it's exactly as you described.

I can go trapfinding bard if you would prefer going Barbarian. The Archaeologist is very rogue-like. I'd lose the performance, which I'm ok with if you want to go Barbie.

Ok, got everything done but feats and my eidolon? Do I make a second character creation for the eidolon?

How many feats do we get, or is it just limited to the campaign one?

Eidolon should probably get

Eidolon should probably get its own sheet, as it's a rather impressive creature.

Every character gets 1 Feat, and 2 Traits, one of which must be from the player's guide. Traits are weaker than feats, and can only be taken during character creation.

Dar: use the Feat Tree to

Dar: use the Feat Tree to look up potential feats. It's way better organized and gives a quick summary of the feat, before clicking for full description.

The only way to get extra feats at chargen is to be human and/or a class that allows it, such as fighter. You don't have to use the feats suggested in the player's guide, they are there as options for the campaign.

You gain feats at certain levels, and choose which you want so long as it's a source the GM approves.
