Time to try the dice rolling

Time to try the dice rolling system!

Here's a situation that's likely to come up once or twice.  There's a conversation that you can't hear without a little use of skill.  If you want to hear what Lorrimor and the large gentleman are saying, you'll need to make a perception check!

Of course, you are not obligated to make a check if you don't want to.  Eavesdropping is rather rude, afterall, and it certainly seems like a private conversation.

Check the "Roll Dice" option below the post, if you have not yet had a chance to use it.  Make sure you enter your usual bonuses for your skill with the roll, and enter what the roll is for in the "comments" aspect of your die roll.  Include your die roll in the IC topic, if you so choose to listen in.

It'll look something like this:

Though apparantly Orin's survival hasn't been thanks to his dice.

I'll have to give my roll

I'll have to give my roll when I'm home, if the moment isn't passed.

If you post the text, I can go back and put in the roll for you. Rolls should also work from phones now...

True, fink, but these

True, fink, but these pathfinder PDFs show up as blank documents on web browsers, at least on iOS. So we can't check our modifiers.

Not really anything you can do about that though, I don't think mobile readers are sophisticated enough to see these editable PDFs. Even my work computer has an old adobe reader and can't figure it out.

I think I might write all my attacks and stats on my phone notes for a quick reference later. For this post I'll just have you roll for md though when I make it during my lunch break.

That, Darlain, is a good idea. I can check my modifiers and save them to my phone later.

Yeah, but I can just open

Yeah, but I can just open your character sheet and get the values, since the sheets are all posted. And I really don't mind doing it, really, if someone needs it.

(This is regarding rolling for other people, not the blank sheets)

Helpful comments!

...if the moment isn't passed.

There's doing what Fink suggested, where you make your post and let the GMs/mods edit in a roll for you, since they can check the PDFs.

There's also taking time to check the post I made yesterday. You can almost always read back in a forum game and make a response if you don't get a chance to post immediately.

My post is going to mostly pertain to social RP moments. In a case like combat, waiting your turn is probably going to be the norm, or the GM can make the roll for the character if needed.

But seriously, don't be afraid to take a step back and respond to things from a few posts ago, and take time writing up a longer response because of it--even if the person you're talking to has forged on ahead in their more recent posts. You still get the chance to react, and interact!

It's what makes forums different from chat, where missing a few lines means you don't get that opportunity.

Yeah, Rastila, this is

Yeah, Rastila, this is definitely a check that you can make when you have a chance to post next.  I posted the results as at least one person was successful, and everyone that beats the 15 has knowledge of that conversation.

If it's something that has immediate consequences, I will wait until everyone has a chance to roll.

You worry too much, Dar!  Kendra has given you a 100% vote of confidence.  That should be more than enough to quell any hostilities!

FABISSIMO uses Sociable!

FABISSIMO has used his feat "Sociable" granting the party +2 on Diplomacy checks for the next 4 rounds.

It's super

It's super effective!

Actually, it's only moderately effective.  If you guys want to try diplomacy, you'll already be at a -2 in general for being "Disliked" in town.  The bonus and penalty will effectively cancel eachother out.

The ground is firm here.  You can also lower the coffin, if you'd prefer to try something different.  However, to do this without causing damage to Professor Lorrimor's body is a full-round-action that everyone carrying has to take.  That's going to cost you some valuable time...

Diplomacy? I can't stab that.

Orin's far more intimidating than diplomatic. That being said, if someone wants to try talking these guys down, I could try to give an extra +2 to the check with the aid another action. Probably by being large, scary, and encouraging them to seek a peaceful solution.

It would seem that my paladin

It would seem that my paladin is not a people person!

How would it end
If the truth was re-writable
Break with past
Whatever dreams you long for
I've seen what the future has in mind for me

I figure it's more of a "That

I figure it's more of a "That person is shiny, she isn't to be trusted!" kind of thing.

Also: Ouch, not even enough for an aid.

Maybe we'll get a second shot with Banakil or Oboe, they seem to be the best talkers of the group.

Man, that sucked... Nicholai, can we try again and keep talking to these people? Maybe while the tall folk are putting down the coffin in case things get ugly?

Unless Nicholai is treating

Unless Nicholai is treating this as a skill challenge, requiring X successes before Y failures, no:

"You cannot use Diplomacy to influence a given creature’s attitude more than once in a 24 hour period. If a request is refused, the result does not change with additional checks, although other requests might be made."

That being said: NIcholai, would an attempt to shame the populace, calling them out on their cowardice by ganging up on a funeral procession by Orin be considered a diplomacy, or an intimidate?
