Right now, it's the only chance they have at succeeding these rolls.

That, or they finally put their d4s away and start rolling d20s again.  :)

Aaaaand everybody acts after

Aaaaand everybody acts after the blind little girl.

Just waiting for Darbie to roll for init and we can get this show on the road.

FYI - as I've mentioned before to people, we won't be using battle maps for the majority of the fights in Carrion Crown.  We'll only be pulling that out if the fight absolutely requires perfect positioning (Which will likely be the most difficult combats by far.  Fair warning!).  Battle maps tend to detract from the mystery and horror elements of this sort of campaign.

Instead: Here's a description of the setup:

Anyone who was in Alendru's shop will be starting on the north edge of the Gazebo, and will be 40 feet away from the action.  Meanwhile, Orin and Banakil are in the viper's den, where people are clearing out.

There's at least one red little monster visible, and only those with Knowledge: Nature would have the firsthand knowledge to identify him.  Imagine him to be a cat-sized mosquito with fast-moving bat-like wings.

It's currently right smack-dab in the middle of the gazebo.  The gazebo itself has a 15 foot radius.

Right now, the people around the gazebo and the gazebo itself will provide some amount of cover against ranged attacks.

Unfortunately, you have a lot of panicking people on your hands.  All of the area leading up to the gazebo will be treated as difficult terrain if you plan to walk through.  That means that you'll need to expend twice the amount of movement to go anywhere.

For example:  If you have a movement speed of 30 feet, you'll only be able to travel 15 feet in difficult terrian.

If you're clever, you can try to bypass the crowds with abilities of your own.  This will usually require a roll of some sort, depending on what you want to do.

For example:  Orin has decided he's not going to take any guff from the audience, and shoves anyone aside with his overwhelming barbarian powers.  If they were in a panicking state, Orin would be making a Combat Maneuver check to knock people on their collective behinds as he forces his way up.

However, if he failed, he'd be knocked prone himself, ending his movement.

Regardless of what you want to do, you'll be taking a risk - so think carefully before you decide.  If you want to try to do something to make your way through the crowds, post here and I'll let you know what kind of check you need to make.

Oh hey sweet, I don't have to go first and can try to remember how to proceed in a fight.

Would those people with the required skill be able to put a name to these creatures, Nich?

Of course.  Whoever it is

Of course.  Whoever it is would need to make a Knowledge: Nature check.  It doesn't have to be part of their action or done on their turn, though, so long as they can see the creature in question.

Scoodles only moves at 20ft

Scoodles only moves at 20ft per round, and will have the crowd to deal with, so probably not on the first turn.

Scoodles actually has a movement speed of 40'.  The 20' hasn't been updated from the Serpentine base.

It's still only enough to get up to the mosquito monster - not enough to both get there and attack.

You rolled your fort save, didn't you? You need to actually make a grapple or attack to get it off.

Drogar's right.  The

Drogar's right.  The fortitude save is for something unrelated to having all of your blood sucked out of you.

As to whether you succeeded or not, that's for me to know and you to lose sleep over.  :)

If you're trying to pry the horrible thing off, you'll need to make a grapple or escape artist check.

Those aren't the only things you can do, though.  Being grappled hinders you, but it certainly doesn't stop you from attacking, casting spells (with a successful concentration check), and so on.

The choice is yours.
